Workshops and Art Coaching

  WORKSHOPS:

June 5, 2010 - "Painting with Energy",10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., at Mabee-Gerrar Museum of Art, Shawnee, OK. This is an introductory pastel class, guaranteed to be fun. We will complete at least one hands-on project. We will learn to loosen up, enjoy the marks we make on paper and just generally have fun with the wonderful materials pastelists use. All are welcome, from beginners to seasoned artists. Contact Donna for cost and directions. Supplies: (easel, pastels and paper will be provided but please bring your own pastels if you have them); masking tape, paper towels, baby-wipes, tinfoil, trash bag, old calendar for transporting paintings.

Fall/Winter, 2010: "It's All About the Strokes, Folks", 3-day workshop, New Braunfels Art League, New Braunfels, Texas. We'll "loosen up" with fun projects to encourage us to enjoy the pastel medium and become more comfortable with strong, loose "brushstrokes." We'll learn to set up pleasing still lifes and paint them using "loose", chunk-chunk strokes. On the third day we'll apply the sensitivity and energy we've learned to do more "Renaissance-style" painting -- using more painterly strokes, but still creating a more "realistic" style of painting, focusing on value and color. Contact Mary at New Braunfels Art League. Supplies list here.

"Drawing for Fun" 1-Day Drawing Workshop, Sundance Airpark, OKC, beginning August 14, 2010. Strengthen your painting skills by acquiring the drawing habit. This will be a bi-monthly workshop (every other Saturday afternoon 1:00-3:00 p.m.) for 6 sessions, held in the upstairs conference room at Sundance Airpark (122nd and Sara Road, OKC). Cost is $20/session; you can come to one or more sessions. Beginners to seasoned artists are welcome. Contact Becky Way for more information or to sign up.

ART COACHING:

This is an informal individual or small group session to encourage students who desire a critique of current work or who haven't drawn or painted for awhile and need a gentle nudge back into drawing or painting. Coaching is less structured than a workshop and centers around your personal level of experience. Contact Becky Way for more information and schedule.
